The Sting of Freedom

SYNOPSIS:
In his latest works,Fang Lijun, the father of Cynical Realism, explores how  the dreams of children are hard to realize in a society that can never deliver what it promises to its adults.  In these existential works that depict the indoctrination of the individual from the cradle to the grave, Fang dares the viewer to look beneath the happy veneer of smiles and bright colors to see what lurks beneath the false facade–whether it’s the bright shiny future offered by the Party or by the promise of material wealth, things are not always what they seem to be.
