I’m Almost Crazy

A film by Andrew Cohen / A-C Films
Switzerland, 2013

SUMMARY:

“Times are plentiful, but we are sad,” Beijing-based painter Liu Xiaodong says. In his latest work, the New Wave artist known for his docu-realist style, observes Italian bourgeois opulence that does not necessarily guarantee happiness. He takes the viewer behind the scenes, offering an insight into how he directs his subjects in a theater performance, waiting for the perfect moment of truth to capture on canvas.  The result is as spontaneous and direct as jazz.
